When rebuilding your diesel tractor engine, you may want to consider rebuilding it as a high compression engine.
Diesel Engine Startup
Starting a diesel engine happens over a few cranking cycles and is largely influenced by the temperature and pressure of the air inside the cylinder during compression. A high compression engine increases temperature and pressure before igniting a larger ratio of air/fuel per stroke, which wastes less raw fuel. Not only will this help with cold weather starting, but you may see an increase in horsepower and engine longevity.
Increasing Compression
One of the most common ways to increase your engine’s compression is to install high compression pistons. We offer engine rebuild kits with pistons engineered to raise the static compression by approximately 1 - 1.5 points. These pistons are produced from an aluminum hypereutectic alloy. This allows the pistons to retain a higher percentage of strength and hardness during normal operations, have a very low coefficient of thermal expansion, have a higher resistance to wear, and have a higher tensile strength. When rebuilding your engine with these kits, you'll need to replace your main bearings and rod bearings. We offer both standard and oversized bearings depending on your application.
